Leadership Bakersfield

The Greater Bakersfield Chamber of Commerce’s Leadership Bakersfield program is an educational opportunity for the region’s top community leaders to develop and enhance leadership skills by exposing them to a wide range of community issues and resources.

I had a blast meeting and networking with local movers and shakers at each of our themed meeting days. Over the course of eight months, the program focused on developing and enhancing leadership skills and exposing participants to a wide range of community issues, including: Agriculture, Arts and Culture, Criminal Justice, Education, Health and Human Services, Leadership, Media, Energy and Government.

Here are a few photos of my adventrues:

Getting hands on experience in the virtual operating room and Mercy Hospital.

One of my favorite days was learning more about Kern's oil & gas industry. Here we are at the Chevron oil field.

Doug and I posing for the camera at the Eyewitness News set. Media Day was by far the most intimidating and stressful - we received one-on-one training on how to handle and answer questions from media and PR professionals.

Gearing up for duty! As part of Criminal Justice Day we had the opportunity to shadow police and sheriff officers, take part in police training, and get up close and personal with the bomb squad.
